Welcome to Biking El Paso

This is a new blog I created to promote bicycling in El Paso. I won't say too much about it right now because I don't know exactly how it will evolve. My intent is to recruit some fellow cyclists to post about their favorite rides to encourage other to explore the various cycling options in the El Paso region. It will take a while to get this going, but hopefully it will benefit the area's cycling community.

  1. On El Paso's streets, bike lanes have appeared. But, they have only appeared in portions, often starting and ending without a lot of thought. The lane on Belvidere is one such route. Maybe the lane is intended to connect the interior of Belvidere with the new bus terminal on Mesa. I never advocated giving in to the minority player when logic should prevail. I still don't know why a car lane was removed to make way for a bike lane so few people use. Will this lane bring the cyclist, the bike commuter? "Build it and they shall come" commanded the voice in Field of Dreams. But, will that work in El Paso? Maybe with a factory, but I'm not sure with the bike lanes. Nonetheless, it is here and it is a start.
